This volume is based on the discussions of the Regional Consultation on Sustainable Grassland and Pasture Management in Asia, held at Lanzhou University, Lanzhou in November 2015. The 32nd FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific (APRC) noted that degradation of grasslands can have severe negative local impacts and far-reaching consequences. The meeting was held as a first step towards a regional assessment of the status and prospects of grassland restoration in the Asia-Pacific region, and to identify pathways towards the development of site-specific and holistic policies and programmes for grassland restoration that take into account an array of ecosystem services provided by grasslands and the livelihoods impacts on grassland stewards.

The more the number of TLUs [tropical livestock units] a household had, the less was the risk of having a malnourished child.
