Under the umbrella of the European Green Deal, the Farm to Fork Strategy sets the framework for a more sustainable and climate-friendly food systems in the EU. SMEs are the main actors in the food sector. While some of them are clearly frontrunners when it comes to circularity, most of them currently remain traditional SMEs with linear business models.

Embracing the green transition provides new opportunities and challenges for the traditional SMEs. They need information, guidance and technical assistance on how to embark on the sustainability journey.

This is why SMEunited started a cooperation with the EU LIFE Programme supporting SMEs in sustainable transition and gathered a list of hands-on tips to facilitate the first steps of SMEs in the food sector towards becoming greener.
