Activities |
The Community of Practice (CoP) on food loss reduction serves as a global convener and an integrator of knowledge related to post-harvest loss (PHL) reduction. It offers a platform to facilitate linkages and information sharing amongst stakeholders and relevant networks, projects and programs. The CoP is one of the major outcomes of the first joint project being implemented by FAO, IFAD and WFP, and funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation: Mainstreaming Food Loss Reduction Initiatives for Smallholders in Food-Deficit Areas (more info here). The CoP provides an online discussion fora, resources (online libraries, databases, repositories with relevant materials), and links to partners. It is a dynamic platform that will facilitate information sharing and coordination, and it will be enriched with updated information on a regular basis. This work is part of two affiliated projects funded by SDC in the framework of the Sustainable Food Systems (SFS) Programme, also known as 10-Year Framework for Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns (10YFP), a global multi-stakeholder partnership to accelerate the shift towards more sustainable food systems. The food waste reduction part fits into the One Planet network activities aimed to implement the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP), which supports the global shift to SCP and the achievement of the SDG 12.
