The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Programme (WFP) take pleasure in inviting you to attend a virtual closing event of the UN Rome-Based Agencies joint project “Mainstreaming food loss reduction initiatives for smallholders in food deficit areas”.

Funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) the project was implemented in Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda from 2014 to 2020. The main objective of the project was to improve food security and income generation of smallholder farmers through the reduction of post-harvest losses in targeted value chains, thereby contributing to meeting SDG target 12.3. The project will in parallel contribute to improving nutrition and to meeting SDG targets 2.1 and 2.2.

The virtual event aims to highlight the results and recommendations of the project. It will also showcase the Community of Practice on food loss reduction (CoP) now part of the FAO hosted Technical Platform on the Measurement and Reduction of Food Loss and Waste, and the SDC mandated Capitalization of Experience (CAPEX) study, which covered the RBA project and four other SDC funded projects focused on post-harvest management (PHM) in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).

The event convened on Tuesday, 22 September 2020, from 10:00 to 12:00 CEST can be watched by digiting the following password: GUJGG67+.
