On the road to COP27 Climate Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI) in partnership with FAO hosted a “Pre-COP27: Water Pavilion Preparatory Meeting” during Cairo Water Week (CWW) 2022.  The meeting aimed to review the preparations for COP27 Water and Climate Pavilion-related activities managed by the MWRI and other national and international partners.

During CWW 2022, the Minister of Irrigation Hani Sweilam presented the Cairo Call Document that is designed to be the starting point for countries suffering from water scarcity to design an initiative that can be presented to next year’s UN Conference on the Mid-Term Comprehensive Review of the Water Action Decade. The recommendations reached at CWW 2022 will also be presented at the Water Pavilion at the COP27.

During the meeting, the COP27 Water and Climate Pavilion planned activities were discussed in details through three consecutive sessions over a full day during CWW-2022 being the last preparatory station before COP27 in November 2022.
