REDD+ Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation

United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues - Open dialogue on the UN-REDD work plan 2018-2019

17/04/2018

The UN-REDD 2018-2020 programme includes a knowledge component dedicated to REDD+ actions, the rights of indigenous peoples and forest tenure. During the 17th Session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York, an open dialogue is being held on 17 April to share recent progress from the UN-REDD Programme and the proposed work plan for 2018-2019, seeking to integrate the priorities and perspectives of indigenous peoples.

Indigenous peoples are a key stakeholder of the UN-REDD Programme, participating in its Executive Board, engaging in national policy work, monitoring their territories and forests, and implementing local activities, including for example through the Community-based REDD+ initiative (CBR+).
