Global Level Services Component

The Global Level Services allow to respond, in a flexible manner, to a limited number of ad hoc requests from countries committed to implement right to food and good governance principles in national policies, legislation and institutions, and to participate in global efforts to mainstream human rights in development work. Through this work, FAO will continue developing into a centre of excellence on conceptual and operational aspects in support of an improved understanding and practical implementation of the right to food.

The Global Level Services component has in fact allowed FAO to make an important contribution and take part to several global level initiatives, in particular together with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food, the UNDG human rights mainstreaming mechanism (UNDG-HRM) group, FIAN, the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, the Institute for Hunger Studies (IEH) and other FAO Divisions. These partnerships result in the development and production of a number of publications, fact sheets and events which all aim at strengthening the knowledge, awareness, and understanding of the importance of the right to food at global level, and seeking the commitment of national stakeholders on its implementation.
