Second Conference on the human right to adequate food in Uganda

The conference aims at positioning the human right to adequate food as a lever for harnessing inclusivity in the food systems transformation agenda of Uganda so that no one is left behind in the process. As agrifood systems face unprecedented and interrelated challenges, the discussions are expected to generate further momentum and actions towards strengthening the enabling environment and accountability for the human right to adequate food in Uganda.

The event is organized by the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC), Makerere University and partners, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

Agenda

The Conference will convene international, regional and national stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities for the progressive realization of the right to adequate food. It will count will the interventions from experts and high-level representatives, including:

  • Gabriel Ferrero de Loma Osorio, Chairperson, Committee on World Food Security/Spain Ambassador At Large for Global Food Security
  • Michael Fakhri, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Food
