Engaging youth in agriculture: new report identifies challenges and solutions

30/07/2014

A new report on “Youth and Agriculture: Key Challenges and Concrete Solutions” has recently been published by The Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA), FAO, the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

The report provides real life examples of how to engage and incentivize young people to be involved in agriculture, so they are able to find innovative ways to create a future for themselves and contribute to the communities in which they live. Making sure that youth are involved in agriculture will be crucial to improving food security and economic well-being in the years to come. Tailor-made educational programmes, such as the Junior Farmer Field and Life Schools approach, can provide rural youth with the essential skills and insights needed to engage in farming and adopt environmentally friendly production methods.

You can read the full report here (in English). Translations into other languages will follow shortly.
