Recognizing the importance of fostering intergenerational collaboration and knowledge exchange, this mainstage session aims to bring together young and seasoned scientists in the agrifood sector in a candid and interactive dialogue to highlight how meaningful intergenerational collaboration and solidarity can be a catalyst to accelerate the pace of science-based innovations.

Young scientists bring fresh perspectives, innovative approaches and a deep understanding of emerging technologies. Their research and expertise can contribute to novel solutions and transformative ideas that address the agrifood sector's pressing challenges. On the other hand, experienced scientists possess a wealth of knowledge, extensive practical experience and an understanding of the historical context. Their guidance, mentorship and valuable insights, are crucial in sustaining advancements in science and innovation and in supporting the next generation of scientists.

Yet, collective ideation, shared involvement, participatory governance, and equality and diversity within science is still a challenge. By fostering intergenerational solidarity, this session aims to bridge the gap between young and experienced scientists, creating an environment for collaboration, mutual learning and synergy, thereby supporting a sustainable, efficient and inclusive agrifood system transformation.
