20/06/2023

The Transfer Project's 10th workshop took place in Nairobi, Kenya, from June 21 to 23, 2023. It was a dynamic platform where government officials, development partners, and researchers converged to showcase new research and evidence on government cash transfer programs in Africa. The workshop was held under the theme of "Promoting Equity and Resilience: Cash Transfer Evidence for Action in a Poly-Crisis World," and it reflected on the invaluable lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, shedding light on the capacity of national cash transfer and social protection systems to respond to diverse crises.

Participants had a unique opportunity to delve into the latest evidence from regional cash transfer programs across various themes, while also exploring innovative data collection methods and providing rapid feedback on program operations. The workshop went beyond economic outcomes, seeking to understand the broader impacts of cash transfers on people's lives. Moreover, it explored how evidence could be effectively utilized to advocate for positive change.

Established in 2008, The Transfer Project was a multi-country cash transfer research initiative, recognized as a thought leader in the field. It collaborated with UNICEF Innocenti, FAO, University of North Carolina, UNICEF Regional and Country Offices, national governments, and local research partners, and was dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding of cash transfers in Africa. This significant event contributed to shaping equitable and resilient societies.
