Blog policy and guidelines
Blog requirements
- Blog entries will only be accepted in the FAO official languages - Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish.
- Suggested post length is 300-700 words, entries cannot exceed 800 words.
- Provide honest, accurate and concise information that is relevant to the blog
- Be respectful of others
- Do not provide any sensitive or politically controversial material
- Do not provide information directly promoting external products or services
- Acknowledge and flag any mistakes as soon as they have been identified
- Acknowledge any reference material (data, quotations and other third-party content)
Post guidelines
- Use lists, bullet points and sub-headings to break up your text and keep readers interest.
- Do not try to convey too much information in one post - think of one or two key points that you want reader to take away after reading your post.
- Point readers to where they can find additional information on the subject if they are interested.
- Invite comments on your post by asking questions and respond promptly to any comments.
Blog conditions
- Submissions must meet FAO's quality standards in order to get published. FAO reserves the right to edit and adapt blog post submissions prior to posting
- It may take a few days before our team can review new submissions. We receive many submissions, so we appreciate your patience throughout our review and production process.
- FAO will promote all posts via its corporate social media channels. Authors are encouraged to promote their posts through their own networks, as well.
- FAO reserves the right to remove comments that it deems inappropriate.
- FAO does not accept responsibility for, or endorse the views of bloggers.
How to submit a post
- Register and join the FAO community. You will need to insert your name, surname and email.
- Read our blog policy and guidelines
- Send an email to [email protected] with your entry in word format, specifying IYS BLOG in the subject. Please use the same email that you provided at registration. You can include photos, multimedia and a short bio/headshot if you like. Remember, entries cannot exceed 800 words.
- Be patient. It may take a few days before our team can review new submissions.
