07/12/2011

The Rural Enterprise and Small-Scale Commercial Agricultural Development (RESCAD) project in Armenia was financed by the World Bankto support Armenia’s small and medium-size rural businesses by helping farmers and rural business owners access markets and by promoting private and public sector investment in rural areas. It was selected to receive an “Improving Lives of People in ECA Award” by the World Bank in 2010. Investment Centre staff played fundamental roles in designing and providing continuous support throughout the implementation of the project, which was one of 12  selected for the Award – and one of just four agricultural projects. David Lugg, Senior Agricultural Officer, explains how the various components of the project had an impact on the livelihoods of the people.
