National workshop on Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES) data analysis in Praia (Cabo Verde)

04/03/2024 - 06/03/2024

FAO is hosting a national workshop on Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES) data analysis in Praia – Cabo Verde from March 4 to March 6.

As the custodian agency for SDG indicator 2.1.2 "Prevalence of moderate or severe food insecurity, based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES)", FAO supports the efforts of the countries in monitoring target 2.1 “by 2030 end hunger and ensure access by all people, in particular the poor and people in vulnerable situations including infants, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round”. The workshop aims to provide technical support to national institutions monitoring food insecurity in Cabo Verde to apply the statistical methods behind indicator 2.1.2 and derive estimates based on the data collected through the Inquérito Nacional de Vulnerabilidade Alimentar e Nutricional das Famìlias en Cabo Verde (IN-VANF).

Expected outcomes:

National institutions in Cabo Verde strengthen their capacities to analyse food security data and produce meaningful and reliable indicators to inform monitoring frameworks, classification systems, and M&E assessments to guide policies and interventions, including for humanitarian response.

The estimates on SDG indicator 2.1.2 are derived using the Inquérito Nacional de Vulnerabilidade Alimentar e Nutricional das Famìlias en Cabo Verde (IN-VANF) 2022 and 2023.

Participants:

10 participants from 5 institutions are attending the workshop.
