National workshop on SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 in Dodoma (United Republic of Tanzania)

As a follow up to the Validation Meeting of the EAC Food Security and Nutrition (FSN) Monitoring Framework, FAO is conducting a technical training on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES) and Prevalence of Undernourishment (PoU) methodologies for Tanzania, one of the EAC Partner States.   This training will be held in Dodoma, Tanzania from 06 to 11 November 2023.   

The overall objective of the training is to enhance the statistical capacity of officers from the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Office of the Chief Government Statistician (OCGS) Zanzibar, and related ministries on the production of food security statistics, with a focus on the FIES and PoU methodologies.  

Expected Outcomes:   

  • Participants understand FAO methodologies for PoU and FIES indicators, their theoretical foundations, data interpretation and analysis techniques.  
  • Parameters of PoU are estimated using nationally representative surveys.  
  • Hands-on training for analyzing and reporting the Agricultural Census Dataset using STATA and R.  

Participants:  

The training aims to bring together a total of 16 participants from key agriculture sector ministries and statistics offices in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.
