National workshop on SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 in Lusaka (Zambia)

27/11/2023 - 30/11/2023

FAO is facilitating a capacity building workshop on monitoring the evolution of Food insecurity using standard FAO and SDG 2.1 Indicators from 27 to 30 November 2023, in Lusaka, Zambia.

The workshop aims to train national experts on globally adopted SDG indicators 2.1.1 (Prevalence of Undernourishment - PoU) and 2.1.2 (Prevalence of Moderate or Severe Food Insecurity using the Food Insecurity Experience Scale - FIES), to strengthen monitoring of SDG Target 2.1 in Zambia. This is aligned with FAO's role in supporting country capacities for SDG monitoring.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Strengthened capacities of national experts in the production, analysis and reporting of household food insecurity based on the FIES.
  • Detailed discussion on the possibility of integration of FIES and PoU methodology in national surveys for better monitoring of SDG 2 target 2.1.
  • Improved participants' ability to use SPSS, R, Stata software and the FIES ShinyApp to calculate FIES estimates after the hands-on trainings.

Participants:

16 participants would be trained, including analysts from ZAMSTAT, Ministry of Labour and Social Services, the Disaster Risk and Management Unit, the Vulnerability Assessment Committee and experts from key line ministries and FAO Zambia.
