Regional workshop on SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 in Lomé (Togo)

FAO hosted a regional workshop on SDG indicators 2.1.1 "Prevalence of Undernourishment" and 2.1.2 "Prevalence of moderate or severe food insecurity, based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES)" in Lomé (Togo) from June 1 to June 7.

As the entity responsible for monitoring SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2, FAO is dedicated to supporting countries in achieving target 2.1, which aims to eradicate hunger by 2030 and ensure universal access to safe, nutritious food year-round, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the poor and infants. Through a Letter of Agreement with AFRISTAT, this regional workshop aimed to work together with National Statistical Offices to analyze food consumption and FIES data collected through the “Enquête harmonisée sur les conditions de vie des ménages (EHCVM).

Outcomes:

  • Training for National Statistical Office representatives on the statistical methodologies underpinning indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2.
  • Training for National Statistical Office representatives on analyzing food consumption and FIES data utilizing information from the EHCVM.
  • Generation and discussion of preliminary estimates for indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2.

Participants :

A total of 19 participants from 8 countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Niger, Senegal, Chad, Togo) and AFRISTAT attended the workshop.
