Virtual Seminar Series for UNCT Data Officers and Economists

The "Virtual Seminar Series for UNCT Data Officers and Economists" was offered jointly by the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA) and the Regional Collaborative Platform Working Groups on Data and Statistics, in collaboration with FAO. This tailored training package offered UNCT Data Officers and Economists the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills on supporting the improvement of SDG monitoring at national level, and helped them to provide better evidence and actionable insights to accelerate progress on SDG implementation. The virtual seminar series (11 May–22 June) consisted of three modules, each divided into two sessions to accommodate different time zones.

Target audience

The main target group of this online training were RCO Data Officers and RCO Economists. Participation was also opened to other interested members of the UNCT data group in each country.

Learning outcomes

  • Understand national and international governance systems for data and statistics and be able to facilitate  partnerships;
  • List, promote and use the tools developed to support the national SDG reporting process;
  • List and promote the statistical capacity programmes and services in support of the specific clusters of SDG indicators covered by the programme;
  • Engage proactively in national processes of “domesticating” or “prioritizing” SDG indicators and be able to distinguish between national and global indicators, as well as between prioritizing targets and indicators;
  • Understand how to improve existing coordination mechanisms between various stakeholders;
  • Understand strengths, challenges, and opportunities related to different data sources.
