The manual provides the concept, framework, principles and methodology to promote gender-equitable value chain development (VCD) as well as sustainable pro-poor growth and development. It explains in detail how to apply this framework and methodology to VCD, from gender-inclusive design, gender analysis, strategy for a win-win situation using participatory process, implementation and accountability. Practical examples of applying this approach to the leather and honey value chains in Ethiopia are given. A very practical summary gender checklist that can be used in VCD process is provided at the end of the Manual.
