The Critical Role of Global Food Consumption Patterns in Achieving Sustainable Food Systems and Food for All - A UNEP Discussion Paper

2012

The publication describes the impacts of food consumption patterns on the sustainable productivity of the agricultural resource base and food security and how changing patterns in food consumption have led to considerable detrimental effects on health, agro-ecological resources and food security. Many case examples are used to illustrate these arguments. From these findings, the report goes on with proposing recommendations for the public and the private sector, for food producers and food consumers to collectively address the challenges posed by unsustainable food consumption.
