A Guide to Developing Consumer Protection Law

These guidelines are intended to assist national consumer protection associations and advocates for consumer rights in the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The temptation is strong to develop a ‘best practice’ model law approach, or to simply copy-paste another state’s legislation, but new regulations should be considered in relation to the existing legal frameworks, as well as the economic, social and political context in which they will be implemented.
