Markets and Rural Poverty - Upgrading in Value Chains

This book looks at integrating poverty, gender and environmental concerns into value chain research and interventions. It is conceived and based upon the experience of farmers, development workers and policy makers from countries in development. In chapter 2 it looks at poverty in terms of  inclusive aspects of  value chain development, while chapters 4, 5 and 6 look at value chain upgrading. Chapter 4 looks at upgrading via horizontal coordination as an upgrading strategy, chapter 5 covers upgrading via vertical coordination and chapter 6 covers functional upgrading.
