Value Chain Development for Decent Work - A Guide for Development Practitioners, Government and Private Sector Initiatives

2009

The guide promotes the Decent Work approach to sustainable development - an approach that puts its focus on human resources as the true source of sustainable competitive advantage. Decent Work promotion involves business practices that not only sustain competitiveness but also support pro-poor and inclusive socio-economic development. A complete set of tools for developing such Decent-Work value chains is elaborated throughout this guide. This guide also provides useful insights for value chain mapping, provides a sound basis on which to develop a vision for developing sustainable food value chains with a central focus devoted to decent work and caters also for monitoring and evaluation purposes of sustainable food value chain development initiatives.
