The purpose of this book is to provide practical guidance for the staff of development NGOs involved in supporting producer organizations (POs). Although Oxfam GB has been promoting and supporting POs for many years, very little of this experience has been collected and documented to help its staff and others working with POs to draw on this experience. While there are many existing guides and manuals on POs, few if any are written specifically for the staff of development NGOs. This guide therefore draws on Oxfam GB’s experience of working with POs to date, as well as on a wide range of secondary research, guidance, and experience on POs.
