Mekong Institute (MI), in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), is going to conduct the Regional Training Workshop on Planning and Implementing Contract Farming Operations on 20 - 23 September 2016 at MI Residential Training Center in Khon Kaen. The program aims to build the capacity of participants in dealing with issues related to facilitating market linkages through contract farming operations. 

The regional training targets officials from Ministries of Agriculture, Commerce, Industry and Trade, farm extension agents, NGO staff, development project personnel, development practitioners, agribusiness private sector representatives, farmer group production and marketing leaders and coordinators with an interest or work responsibilities that include promoting or managing farmer-buyer linkages coordinated by contracts.

The program provides 20 scholarships to selected participants from Asian countries. The program will cover all expenses related to participation in the training course, except traveling costs (the participants are expected to make their own travel arrangements). The organizers, however, will provide partial reimbursement for participants whose air fares (lowest cost economy class) exceed USD650, with a maximum reimbursable amount of USD500 per participant.
