This paper analyses the forces and barriers influencing the development of agroforestry systems in Brazil. It examines the effects of public policies on the development of agroforestry systems based on lessons learned in successful agroforestry development experiences and numerous conservation projects. It also discusses government implementation, demonstration projects, and the legal framework of agroforestry development.
