Co-management of protected areas without local knowledge: a case study of Lawachara national park

This study assesses local knowledge and perceptions of biodiversity issues among members of specific co-management insistutions, and among local people who do not belong to these bodies. The study considers how local knowledge is incorporated into park management. The findings reveal that the current co-management Council and Committee members possess a poorer understanding of biodiversity than many members of the local community.
