Forest industry safety accord

The forest industry is one of the most dangerous sectors in which to work in the UK. In the five years up to March 2012, there was an average of 10.4 fatalities per 100,000 workers. This is more than three times the fatality rate for the construction industry. Early in 2012, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) called a safety summit, bringing together stakeholders from across the industry. Everyone involved in forestry must work together in a coordinated and managed way to reduce the number of serious and fatal accidents. Old prejudices need to be parked and common goals agreed as a matter of urgency. Representatives from many of the leading industry organisations joined together to form a steering group. Together they developed a Forest Industry Safety Accord (FISA) which sets out the commitment that each organisation, and the sector at large, can make to raise the standard of health and safety in their place of work. A section of the FISA website is specifically dedicated to the "safety information": under the safety library section there is a number of guides/leaflet that can be freely downloaded (http://ukfisa.com/safety-information/safety-library.html).
