This year, on 16 October 2020, we celebrate the 40th World Food Day (WFD) and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The theme of World Food Day this year is “GROW, NOURISH, SUSTAIN. TOGETHER: Our actions are our future”– a key message during the COVID-19 global health crisis, which has reminded us all of one of our most basic needs – food.

This World Food Day Digital Event is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The Ministry and FAO will present World Food Day Awards recognizing those who have contributed to the achievement of the Zero Hunger goal. The event will include talks by FAO Turkey Representative, Dr Viorel Gutu and the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr Bekir Pakdemirli, as well as representatives from leading unions and associations working in the food and agriculture sector in Turkey.
