Beehive and Beekeeping Equipment Distribution Ceremony in Türkiye

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye, under the "Leaving No One Behind: Greater Involvement and Empowerment of Rural Women in Türkiye and Central Asia (GCP/SEC/018/TUR)" project and the FAO-Türkiye Partnership Programme on Food and Agriculture (FTPP II), is pleased to announce an upcoming event. “Beehive and Beekeeping Equipment Distribution Ceremony” will take place on July 2-3, 2024, in İkizce District, Ordu Province. It includes the distribution of essential beekeeping equipment to selected beneficiaries identified by the Gender Unit staff in Ordu province.

This event aims to empower rural women through direct support and capacity building. During this two-days event, participants will engage in discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at empowering women in the apiculture sector and fostering their active participation in cooperative initiatives. Attendees will include FAO experts, representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, national experts, beneficiary women selected for equipment support, and local stakeholders from Ordu Province.

Background

The project "Leaving No One Behind: Greater Involvement and Empowerment of Rural Women in Türkiye and Central Asia," financed by the Government of Türkiye, is being carried out in Türkiye, with concurrent activities in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Its primary goal is to alleviate rural poverty by facilitating access for rural communities and organizations to crucial resources, services, and markets. Additionally, the project emphasizes providing policy support, building capacities, and generating knowledge to foster gender equality and enhance the economic empowerment of rural women.
