On 6 February 2023, two devastating earthquakes followed by tremors and aftershocks ripped through the southeastern region of Türkiye. The agriculture sector incurred direct damages amounting to USD 1.3 billion, alongside estimated losses of USD 5.1 billion in agricultural production. Smallholder farming households and small-scale agricultural producers were among the hardest hit by the disaster. Therefore, it was imperative for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to complement national response and recovery efforts. In support of national priorities and FAO’s efforts, the Government of Germany, through the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, contributed USD 1 060 090 for the implementation of project OSRO/ TUR/011/GER, entitled “Rural revive: Rebuilding rural communities through cooperative movement”. This document provides a summary of the context, objective and expected outputs of the project.

FAO'nun deprem bölgelerindeki yardım çalışmaları, afetten en çok etkilenen kritik bölgelerde yoğunlaşıyor.

Türkiye ve Suriye, 6 Şubat'ta iki büyük depremle sarsıldı. Depremler, iki ülkede 54.000'den fazla insanın ölümüne, yüz binlerce kişinin yaralanmasına ve milyonlarca kişinin evsiz kalmasına neden oldu. Türkiye'nin en önemli tarım bölgelerinden biri de depremden etkilendiğinden, tarım ve gıda sektörleri de ciddi hasarlar aldı. FAOTURN'un 13. baskısı, deprem üzerine odaklandı. FAO ve sahadaki ortaklarının tepkisi ve Birleşmiş Milletler'in yardım çabaları, Acil Müdahale programı altında depremin ilk anlarından itibaren sahada yürütülen çalışmaları kapsayan bu baskının ana odak noktasını oluşturdu.

FAOTURN olarak, uyguladığımız projelerde Dört İyilik prensiplerine özel bir önem vermeye çalışıyoruz. FAOTURN'un son sayısında yaptığımız gibi, bu sayıda da Dört İyilik prensiplerine uygun olarak çıktıları dikkate alarak projelerimizden gelişmeleri aktarmaya çalıştık. Bu sayıda, Türkiye genelinde uyguladığımız projelerde İyi Üretim başlığı altında hedeflerimizi ve sonuçlarımızı bulabileceksiniz. FAO Türkiye Ofisi geçtiğimiz yıl 40. yılını kutladı. Dünya Gıda Günü'nün muhteşem etkinlikleri ve Türkiye'nin uluslararası alanda aldığı ödüllerle birlikte 40. yılını kutladık.
