Budapest, Hungary  The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) is looking for innovative and enthusiastic young talent to help create a hunger free world. On 7 October, FAO will present new employment opportunities for young professionals and students during a virtual career fair.

For the Europe and Central Asia region, two positions under the Young Professionals Programme will be presented, offering a meaningful professional experience to young graduates, as well as exposure to international cooperation activities, while enabling them to apply their technical specialization to fight global hunger.

“Interns and young professionals knowledgeable either in digital agriculture or resilience to climate change and disasters can apply for two-year FAO positions in FAO’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, based in Budapest, Hungary,” added Stefano Bonezzi, FAO administrative officer. “We believe that everyone can play a part in ending hunger, and we cannot achieve that goal without the help of youth and young talent.”

At the virtual career fair, registered visitors will learn about FAO and its work in Europe and Central Asia – a vast and diverse region that extends from Lisbon to Vladivostok and from the Arctic Circle to the Pamir Mountains of Central Asia – and chat with the office’s HR specialist and other employees.

“The young professional officer on resilience to climate change and disasters, as well as the young professional on digital agriculture, will both have a key role in transforming the region’s food systems for more sustainability and address the region’s challenges in the areas of food and agriculture,” said Bonezzi.

FAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. With expertise in crops, livestock, forestry, fisheries, food safety and nutrition, trade and agricultural policy, the FAO office for Europe and Central Asia oversees and coordinates the Organization’s activities in the 53 Member Countries and one Member Organization (the European Union) in the region.
