ONLY IN SPANISH

The objective of this document is to present a guide for the establishment and development of producer markets, taking into account the territorial dynamics, the complexity and diversity of actors and productive structures that may occur within the framework of rural-urban relations, based on good practices and everything that can be improved based on the experiences of producer markets already operating in Mexico City, Morelos, San Luis Potosi and Jalisco. Part of this information was derived from the "Analysis Workshop for the Development of the Producer Market Model in Mexico City" held on February 1 and 2, 2017 at the FAO Representation offices in Mexico City. In addition, this information has been enriched with the results of the surveys carried out among the coordinators of the producer markets participating in the workshop, 90 vendors from those producer markets, and the experience gained from the process of installing a PM in Mexico City within the framework of technical cooperation with SEDEREC. The challenge for producers, consumers and the government is to implement and support marketing mechanisms that are sustainable in the social, economic and productive spheres, so that these initiatives form part of the country's public policies and strengthen its food systems through the urban-rural link.
