On 29 July 2022, FAO celebrated the launch of its new joint publication “Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture Sourcebook – From production to food systems” with the RUAF Global Partnership on Sustainable Urban Agriculture and Food Systems (RUAF) and Rikolto. This event introduced the book and demonstrated how it can support local decision-makers, policy advisors, urban planners, and other stakeholders when planning and implementing urban and peri-urban agriculture (UPA) interventions. The sourcebook provides insights and lessons on targeted and context-specific UPA typologies, approaches and practices, as well as the key components required to create an enabling environment to sustainably scale up UPA within the context of broader urban development.
