The event "Innovating against food loss and waste, an International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste and WSIS TalkX Virtual event" will take place on Thursday, 30 September 2021 at 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM (Hanoi time). The event is organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Permanent Mission of the Republic of San Marino and the Permanent Mission of the Principality of Andorra to the United Nations.

As part of the global celebrations of the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, the Permanent Mission of Andorra to the United Nations, the Permanent Mission of San Marino to the United Nations, FAO and ITU are partnering to bring together Member States, UN entities and non-state actors to highlight innovative initiatives to fight food loss and waste along the value chain, including through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).

This year, the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste will make a call for public and non-state actors to prioritize actions and redouble efforts to use innovation to reduce food loss and waste, restoring and building back better, more efficient, inclusive, sustainable and resilient agri-food systems.
