High-level meeting on SSF in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea

25/09/2018

The General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean and the Black Sea (GFCM) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is organizing a "High-level Conference on Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Mediterranean and Black Sea" (Malta, 25-26 September 2018). This event represents the culmination of work carried out in recent years, seeking to elicit political will and concrete action to support small-scale fisheries in the region.

The meeting will consist of a day dedicated to stakeholder discussions (25 September 2018) followed by a high-level event (26 September 2018). In recognizing that much progress has been made in recent years, the first day will seek to highlight cases of best practice in the region, in line with the draft Regional Plan of Action for Small-Scale Fisheries in the Mediterranean and Black Sea (RPOA-SSF), which is foreseen to be adopted on the second day. Information on the meeting can be found on the official website.
