The SSF Guidelines are a tool for delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the 108 million people working in small-scale fisheries, and for achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The SSF Guidelines have 6 high-level objectives that are linked to the delivery of different SDGs.

Some key linkages are:

  • Enhance the contribution of small-scale fisheries to food security and nutrition
  • Eradicate poverty and improve socio-economic development
  • Sustainable utilization, management and conservation of fisheries
  • Promote the contribution of small-scale fisheries to a sustainable future
  • Provide guidance on policies, strategies and legal frameworks for small-scale fisheries
  • Enhance public awareness on small-scale fisheries
