WASAG – The Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture

WASAG welcomes five new partners approved by the last Steering Committee meeting

WASAG is pleased to announce the commitments of five new partners whose applications were approved by the last WASAG Steering Committee meeting of 15 November 2023:

1. The Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) of the Republic of Philippines – They offer to share their technical and policy expertise with other WASAG member countries to further the adoption of sustainable land management technologies, as well as to better the use of water and the reuse of wastewater.

2. China Agricultural University – They wish to extend their comprehensive and systematic experiences, methods, and solutions to agricultural water scarcity in the context of climate change to other WASAG partners with the aim of reducing knowledge gaps, especially through South-South cooperation. China Agricultural University wishes to contribute to WASAG’s work by making available the expertise, training facilities and infrastructures of the following two colleges:

a. College of Resources and Environmental Sciences

b. College of Water Resources and Civil Engineering

3. The Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP) – Together with the NWP, the NFP is pleased to support WASAG in its mission in ways mentioned below.

4. The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) – Together with the NFP, the NWP offers to share their expertise with on-going initiatives at the water-food interface, in particular the issue of salinization, and commits to engage in upcoming WASAG activities, namely the WASAG Plenary Assembly.

5. The Salt Doctors – An active member of the WASAG working group on saline agriculture, The Salt Doctors has formalized its association with WASAG and pledges to play a bigger role in the previously stated working group, bringing in their expertise in agriculture under saline conditions.

WASAG welcomes these new partners and looks forward to active involvement in its work towards collaborative solutions to tackle water scarcity in agriculture.
