Livestock diversity underpins the provision of livestock products and services and serves as a basis for adapting livestock management to changing conditions. It is vital to the livelihoods of many of the world’s poor people. However, it is often undervalued, underused and under threat.

 

This report provides a comprehensive assessment of livestock biodiversity and its management and focuses particularly on changes that have occurred during the period since the first report was published in 2007.

 

It draws on information provided in 129 country reports, 15 reports from international organizations and inputs from 150 individual authors and reviewers.
