Forestry for a low-carbon future: Integrating forests and wood products in climate change strategies

The potential contribution of forests and wood products becomes very relevant in light of the Paris Agreement, the Sustainable Development Goals, and other global commitments. This side event is expected to inform the participants more about the potential contributions from the forest sector to mitigation and transition to a low carbon economy. It is expected to enable exchange of knowledge and experience on forest sector mitigation options. Discussions will include the emerging opportunities for enhancing the forest sector contributions to mitigation after COP 21 and policy approaches and instruments for optimizing forest sector mitigation potential in climate change strategies.



The Forestry Paper ‘Forestry for a Low-Carbon Future: Integrating Forests and Wood Products in Climate Change Strategies’ will be launched at this side event.



Speakers of the event include Rene Castro-Salazar, Thelma Krug, Thais Linhares-Juvenal, Jenny Wong, Maria Sanz-Sanchez, Sebastian Rüter and Suzana Kahn-Ribeiro.
