This side event aims to promote a better understanding of the BBNJ Agreement, its key elements and its relationship with the UN Fish Stocks Agreement and other relevant legal instruments and frameworks and relevant global, regional, sub-regional and sectoral bodies in the field of fisheries, in particular those under the auspices of the FAO.  It will also provide an opportunity to identify awareness-raising and capacity-building needs of States and regional and sub-regional bodies in support of a better understanding of the Agreement in the fisheries context.
