Enabling ‘Youth for Blue Transformation’ has been a specific recommendation of the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture 2022, through the integration of generational change into planning processes to preserve the continuity of livelihoods, and at the same time encourage innovation. This side event aims to connect and foster collaboration among youth in sustainable aquatic food systems, by establishing a youth constituency. The latter will be tasked with identifying five initial policy priorities for each region and outlining specific action items by the end of 2024, to be further refined during COFI’s 37th Session in 2026.
