FISHERIES SUBSIDIES - THE WTO AGREEMENT AND THE FUTURE

The side event will discuss the success of the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies and what it means for FAO and its members. It will explain how this Agreement might promote better ocean sustainability and help to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG target 14.6. The event will also serve as a catalyst for other WTO members to approve the Agreement so that it can go into effect as soon as possible, benefiting global fisheries and oceans.
