Continental Strategy for Geographical Indications in Africa: launching activities
Rome time
The Continental Strategy for Geographical Indications in Africa was developed by the African Union with the technical support of FAO to (1) enhance GI stakeholders’ networking at national level; (2) preserve and promote traditional products on local markets and (3) position them on international markets. This continental strategy aims at developing GIs in Africa as a tool for rural development, with potential in several areas such as gender empowerment and nutrition improvement.
