WECAFIS is the Western Central Atlantic Fisheries Information System developed under the Fisheries Data and Statistics Working Group (FDS-WG) and endorsed by WECAFC 18.

WECAFIS is a regional knowledge base of data, statistics and information relevant to fisheries in the WECAFC, to inform stakeholders on resources and fisheries for the development and monitoring of different management instruments such as Fisheries Management Plans, Regional Policies and Strategic Action Plans.
Fishery statistics in WECAFIS are contributed by Members according to the endorsed Data Collection Reference Framework (DCRF - endorsed by WECAFC 18). A first pilot data call for selected DCRF Tasks took place in April 2022, with eight WECAFC countries successfully submitting Tasks datasets. The status of DCRF Statistics contributed by WECAFC Members can be visualized through the WECAFIS dashboard. Published datasets can also be downloaded from the dashboard.
The WECAFIS map viewer allows visualization of selected statistics datasets, together with inventories of marine resources and fisheries provided and validated by the WECAFC members and published in FIRMS.  The map viewer provides the links to access the FIRMS fact sheets.

WECAFIS also consists of a data management area with access restricted to authorized users, hosted by the D4Science infrastructure as a Virtual Research Environment (VRE).
