Wood-Based Biomass Energy Development for Sub-Saharan Africa: Issues and Approaches

This background paper reviewed the ways the biomass energy resource is developed and how supply and demand issues can be managed, particularly with respect to household energy use. It also set out a framework outlining how the World Bank can assist Sub Saharan countries with resolving issues related to wood fuel biomass energy in the region. An annex of the report listed the World Bank biomass related projects in Africa during 2000–2010.
