This report provides a broad overview of some most pressing concerns in the forestry sector of Africa. It has one chapter on production and use of biofuels in Sub-Saharan Africa, which covers: a) Scale of production and use of different biofuels; b) Potential for increased biofuel production; c) Biofuels production and greenhouse gases; d) Biofuels production, deforestation, food security and gender considerations, and e) Factors that will shape the biofuel industry.

The other chapters include 1) The role of certification in accelerating sustainable forest management 2) Tree germplasm in Africa; 3) The status and trends of forest pests and diseases and their management; 4) Climate change challenges and opportunities in African forestry.
