The project aims to contribute to the sustainable improvement of the income as well as food and nutritional security of rural households, actors and beneficiaries of the wood energy sector, in particular women and children, as well as the preservation of the natural environment. It plans to cover 79 communes in 9 districts of the Analamanga, Itasy and Alaotra-Mangoro regions.

The expected results of the project include:
- establishment of 4,500 ha of new plantations for energy purposes, including 500 ha of Agro-Forestry Systems with a diversification of species/provenances of Eucalyptus and Acacia
- restoration of 1,000 ha of old Eucalyptus
- training of 8,000 charcoal burners with improved carbonization techniques
- production of 80,000 improved charcoal and wood stoves for households and communities
- implementation of 75 municipal Wood Energy Platforms (PBE), 6 inter-municipal platforms and 75 municipal decentralized forest controls
- implementation of 32 reforestation management plans
