This project aims at reducing carbon emissions and providing adaptation co-benefits. Its actions focus on three deforestation and forest degradation hotspots in the south of the country that experienced high rate of deforestation and forest degradation during the period 2012–2016. It is estimated that 47,500 ha additional plantations would be needed to supply fuelwood to Brazzaville and Nkayi only.

Sustainable supply of fuelwood is one of the four areas of the project intervention. This project aims at establishing approximately 2,700 ha of forestry systems specifically for energy use.
