Promoting better access to modern energy services through sustainable mini-grids and low-carbon bioenergy technologies among Guinea-Bissau’s forest-dependent communities
Project Objective: To promote integrated investment in sustainable mini-grids and low-carbon bioenergy technologies, and develop an appropriate business model for the sustainability of the system
Expected outcomes on woodfuel: 1) Firewood and charcoal are produced and utilized in a sustainable manner in Guinea Bissau’s forest-dependent communities (financial incentives and market mechanisms to secure supply and stimulate demand for energy efficient stoves and firewood/charcoal, improved charcoal kilns, alternative energy); 2) Enhanced capacity to deliver efficient technologies for fuelwood and charcoal production and utilization, 3) Demonstration of a functioning business model for the technical and financial viability of improved kilns and stoves (5,000 improved cookstoves commercialized and 50 improved kilns disseminated).
